Your introduction to fjordland is Hardangerjord – the Queen of the Fjords – where steep sided mountains are reflected in mirror-calm waters. Passengers taking the overland tour to Eidfjord disembark in the picturesque village of Ulvik before Magellan cruises to the ‘gateway’ to the Hardangervidda National Park. Optional tours from Eidfjord include Europe’s largest mountain plateau and the spectacular Sysen Dam. Dwarfed by towering mountains at the innermost reaches of Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the mighty Sognefjord, diminutive Flåm is famous as the start of one of the world’s most spectacular railway journeys. The masterpiece of engineering climbs from fjord level to a lofty 2,700 feet through the wild Flåm Valley and an optional excursion on the Flåm Railway promises to be a highlight of your cruise.

Charming Bergen with its quaint, historic waterfront is truly delightful. You might wish to visit the home of Edvard Grieg, whose inspiration was the beautiful fjordland scenery. A relaxing day at sea precedes a call in Newcastle with a chance to visit Alnwick Castle, filming location for Harry Potter. Then, sail overnight to Tilbury and transfer to your overnight hotel (B&B) in London for a chance to explore some of the capital or take in a show. Return to Dundee by train the following day.
