Departing from the pier, your tour will take you to the city of Cork for a panoramic drive and introduction to Ireland’s second city, which began life on an island on the swampy estuary of the River Lee just upstream from Cork harbour, one of the world’s largest natural harbours.
Today the River Lee flows through the city in two main channels, so you find yourself constantly crossing bridges. In fact, it is this feature of the city that gives it its distinctively continental air. Today, Cork City has become the shopping and commercial capital of the south. It is a University City with a unique character, a city of Jazz, Film, Opera and Theatre. However, as well as offering the many amenities of a large city, it still manages to retain the pleasant charm and friendliness of a country town. You will see the spires of St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral, The Old Courthouse, City Hall and the renowned Bells of Shandon.
Following your introductory drive you will stop at a local bar for a delicious Irish Coffee before taking some time to explore this quaint city independently. Perhaps explore the ‘English Market’. This Market is over 200 years old and is one of Cork's greatest assets; it is an indoor food market with an array of butchers selling many of the traditional Cork foods, fruit and vegetable shops selling at discount prices, fishmongers, Italian, French and Irish cheese stalls, fresh bread stands and more. At this time of year, Cork City’s ‘English Market’ is the perfect spot to sip hot chocolate and pick up a range of gifts and Christmas nibbles. Alternatively, stroll the narrow streets of Cork and pop in to the variety of shops all featuring elements of the festive season.
Following your afternoon in Cork City, re-board your coach for your return drive to the ship.

This tour will take you through County Cork's charming countryside and a visit to the sailing town of Kinsale.
Departing from Cobh, you will travel via the Lee Tunnel to the beautiful coastal town of Kinsale. En route a photo stop will be made at Charles Fort to provide you with an opportunity to enjoy the views overlooking the town of Kinsale and the wide expanse of Kinsale Harbour.
From here, it is just a short drive to the town where you will have approximately 1 hour of free time to explore at leisure. Kinsale is a winner of the European prize for Tourism & the Environment, Entente Florale, National Tidy Town and Gourmet Capital awards. It is a pretty little town lying snugly between hills and valley. Kinsale is safely sheltered by the rounded contours of its beautiful harbour and is believed to have been founded by the Anglo Normans in around 1177. It was a magnificent naval base in the 17th and 18th centuries, and seemed to have enjoyed a degree of prosperity uncommon for Ireland. For centuries, Kinsale had close European connections, and in 1966 became the first town to be awarded the Flag of the Council of Europe. During your time here you will see that Kinsale owes its unique character to the fact that it was a garrison town and port of consequence for more than 300 years, hence the magnificent Georgian homes and the Dutch influence in its architecture. It was also the natural landfall for all the great sailing ships from the continent and the Americas. You will have time to walk around this beautiful town, soak up the local atmosphere and perhaps purchase refreshment in one of the local cafes.
From Kinsale, your return drive to Cobh takes you along the coast before turning inland via Inishannon for a photo stop overlooking the Bandon River.
