Capture the beauty of Norway’s fjords
A delightful mix of some of Norway’s prettiest towns and villages set against a backdrop of spectacular scenery, this cruise brings you the best of fjordland. Astoria takes you deep into the heart of the Norwegian fjords and every day promises a host of new and exciting landscapes from towering peaks and beautiful valleys to tumbling waterfalls and awe-inspiring glaciers.
Enjoy a ralaxing day at sea as Astoria heads for the serene and tranquil Hardangerfjord, with all its breathtaking beauty. At Eidfjord gaze at the rugged mountain slopes and take an optional tour to view the vast Hardangervidda mountain plateau and Vøringsfossen, one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls, cascading 182 metres into the wild valley below. Nestled between high cliffs at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord, is diminutive Flåm, terminus of the incredible Flåmsbana. The optional Flåm Railway tour may well be the highlight of your cruise.
The village of Olden is situated at a branch of the beautiful Nordfjord and is ideally situated for the chance to visit the remarkable Briksdal Glacier, best-known of the gigantic, Jostedal's many icy arms. The delightful old Hanseatic port of Bergen is the final call where you can explore the historic Bryggen district, the heart of the medieval city, the fish market and the many wonderful shops along the Hanseatic waterfront. Perhaps choose to take the funicular to the summit of Mount Fløien for a spectacular panoramic view. Then all too soon Astoria takes a south-westerly course back to Tilbury.
